Is medical cannabis legal in the UK?
Yes. Medical cannabis has been legal in the UK since November 2018, when cannabis-based medicinal products were reclassified to Schedule 2. Specialist doctors can now legally prescribe them to patients with qualifying conditions.
How do I get a medical cannabis prescription?
You need to see a specialist doctor at a licensed private clinic — your GP cannot prescribe it. You'll need a diagnosed condition and evidence that conventional treatments haven't worked. The Connect Centre can guide you through the pathway.
Can I get medical cannabis on the NHS?
Only for a very small number of conditions: severe treatment-resistant epilepsy, chemotherapy-induced nausea, and MS spasticity. For most patients, medical cannabis is only available privately through licensed clinics.
Is there in-person support for medical cannabis patients?
Yes — the Medcann Connect Centre in London is the UK's only physical medical cannabis patient hub. We offer in-person education, support, legal guidance, community events, and wellbeing services.
